Cottage Staircase | Wiltshire

This three-storey, curved, and cantilevered staircase forms the dramatic centrepiece of a stone cottage renovation in North Wiltshire. Elements Studio was brought into the project while construction was already underway, requiring us to collaborate closely with Matt Clay Architects, Morcom Design Workshop, and Wraxall Builders Ltd to rapidly engineer, manufacture, and install this challenging, multi-level contemporary design.

The structure connects the three floors using a sophisticated combination of solid oak treads, CNC-machined and factory-sprayed plywood string balustrades, and a bespoke powder-coated steel handrail. To preserve the architectural purity of the design, the entire system was engineered to be assembled on-site with absolutely no visible fixings.
