Located in the heart of Bath, this is a striking new-build property designed by Nash Partnership. It represents the realisation of a meticulously crafted dream of its owner, offering a dramatic architectural contrast between its charred Shou Sugi Ban exterior and its light-filled, gallery-like interiors.

Our journey with Grove began in collaboration with Wraxall Builders. Together, we took a challenging staircase concept , conceived by the client and project architect, and brought it to life. This central sculptural element seamlessly blends English Ash, glass, and steel, serving as a functional piece of art that anchors the home’s unique interior.

Following the success of the main house, we were commissioned to design and construct a garden retreat. This reading and writing room was designed to honour the architectural purity of the main house while asserting its own identity. By utilising a pavilion-style flat roof with a sedum covering, the structure beds naturally into the landscape.

The project features:
A birch plywood-lined studio and yoga space, covered external dining terrace and integrated garden storage with "invisible" detailing.
Finally, we returned to the interior to install a bespoke storage wall. Taking cues from the building’s linear cladding language, we utilised black-painted batten fronts with integrated lighting and cedar linen racks. To ensure a lifetime of durability for heavy items, we opted for extra-thick melamine laminates, providing a high-end aesthetic with durable functionality.
